AI image badge manual.

From installation to diagnosis: set the tag, adapt the notice text, cover the special cases and find out why a notice is missing when in doubt.

System requirements

Shopware 6.7 with Storefront, PHP 8.2 or newer. No theme build is required; installation runs by upload in the admin without SSH.

Important: everything is maintained through a tag in the media manager. The image file itself is never modified.

Installation

Upload the ZIP in the admin under Extensions, My Extensions, Upload extension, then install and activate it.

Afterwards enter the licence key in the General section. Without a valid key the remaining settings stay hidden and no notice appears in the shop.

Ready in two steps

First: open the image in the media manager and set the tag. The default is "KI".

Second: nothing. The image carries the notice wherever it is output in the shop.

Tip: create the tag in the media manager once before selecting it in the plugin. It then appears in the picker and typos are ruled out.

Setting the tag

In the General section you decide which tag counts as the label. The picker lists every tag present in the media manager, with a search field.

If the tag you want does not exist yet, it can be entered as free text. It takes effect as soon as it is set on an image in the media manager.

Adapting the notice text

The text lives as a snippet named stawKiImageBadge.label. The defaults are "KI generiert" in German and "AI generated" in English.

Changes are possible in two places: under Settings, Snippets per language, or directly in the plugin through its own text field. The entry in the plugin takes precedence.

Where the notice appears

Covered without further action are product listings, detail pages, galleries, sliders, product sliders and image elements in shopping experiences. All of these output paths run through the central Shopware image output.

Two special cases have their own switches. The first covers images sitting as raw HTML in a product description or a text element; they are matched by filename. The second is a safety net for images a theme outputs itself, for example from a custom field on a category.

On frugality: for the safety net only the filenames of the page currently being viewed are passed, not the entire media library.

How the notice is placed

The notice is aligned to the image, not to the surrounding box. The offset between the two is measured and subtracted, border widths included. Notices on images side by side therefore sit at the same height.

Repositioning happens when the image loads, when the window is resized, and when the image itself changes size where the browser provides a resize observer.

If several images share one container, each gets its own notice.

Per sales channel

The notice can be switched on or off separately per sales channel. That is useful when you run several brands and do not want to handle labelling the same way everywhere.

The diagnosis takes the channel selected above into account, so it checks exactly the combination you are looking at.

Diagnosis when the notice is missing

The check button answers the most common questions in one go: does the tag exist at all, how many images carry it, is the notice effective in the selected sales channel, has the configuration ever been saved.

On top come up to five example files and a list of similarly spelled tags with image counts. That immediately reveals cases where the tag in the media manager reads "KI-generiert" instead of "KI".

Since version 1.1.0 the diagnosis also states the licence status in plain words.

Licence

The check is deliberately strict: without a valid, active key matching the domain, no notice appears in the shop. This rules out an expired licence quietly continuing to work.

If the licence server is unreachable, a grace period of three days from the last valid check applies. The result is cached for six hours, so no network call happens per page view.

Possible reasons in plain words: no key stored, key inactive, key unknown, domain mismatch, server unreachable, grace period active.

Troubleshooting

No notice visible: run the diagnosis first. It names the tag, image count, channel effectiveness and licence status - the answer is usually already there.
Notice only on some images: check the two switches for text content and for remaining images. Images from descriptions and from theme output depend on them.
Notice sits in the wrong place: the image has to be loaded before positioning happens. With very idiosyncratic themes, clearing the cache and reloading can help.
